Capabilities of D Shackles
A d shackle is able to hold much larger loads when compared to a bow shackle of the same size, but a dee shackle can only be used for perpendicular loading whereas a bow shaped shackle can be loaded from an angle.
D shackles are perfect for industrial lifting applications where straight, in-line lifting is required. Screw pin dee shackles with a simple cotter pin for securing are used in any in-line, towing, tie-down, lifting or suspension tasks; a screw pin dee shackle is great for most temporary perpendicular lifts whilst a bolt type dee shackle works the best for more permanent in-line lifting applications, due to the fact that it is not so easy to remove quickly.

Shackle Safety & Inspections
Shackles should be inspected on a regular basis by anyone who uses the shackle, looking out for any defects which could affect the shackle’s ability; all shackles must be thoroughly inspected by a suitable person every six month to ensure there is no damage and that they remain fit for purpose. Lifting Gear Direct can carry out this thorough inspection procedure by one of our trained examiners; inspection certification will be issued if completely satisfied.
